A Lovely Day of Cooking in a Private Home

A Lovely Day of Cooking in a Private Home

We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with Marti and Gabor. they gave us a good tour of the grand market, bought all the ingredients for our cooking class and then drove us to their place of business In a private apartment. We were welcomed as promised with the Hungarian specialty, fruit brandy, Palinka. We learned quite a bit in prepping and preparing soup, stuffed peppers, and two strudels for dessert. It's a hands on experience in a relaxed kitchen. We learned lots about Budapest and Hungary we would not have learned any other way. They speak great English. They are very charming, sophisticated people. We had a lot of laughs. This experience adds a unique and memorable day to our vacation.

A Must Do in Budapest

Thank you so much to Marti and Gabor for this amazing experience. We were picked up from our apartment by Gabor and taken to the apartment where the cooking class was taking place. It was a private class for myself and my friend and the menu was had been accommodated so well for our dietary requirements. The whole cooking experience was so much fun and Marti was an excellent teacher and both Marti and Gabor had a very friendly and fun personalities making the whole experience so much better. The food we made was delicious - I cant wait to throw my own Hungarian dinner party! Thank you co much once more to Mart iand Gabor for this amazing experince during our visit to Budapest.

Wonderful Introduction to Hungarian Cuisine and Hospitality!

Wonderful Introduction to Hungarian Cuisine and Hospitality!

This was an amazing experience. I scheduled it for the day I arrived in Budapest, and I am so glad I did! Not only was the food fantastic and the company friendly, I was able to talk about my plans during my Budapest visit and get some great ideas and recommendations for restaurants and things to see and do. I will definitely take this class again on my next trip and learn to cook more delicious Hungarian food.

It was the evening we will never forget!

It was the evening we will never forget!

We visited this great place on the 16th of November. And since the first seconds we were enveloped in the atmosphere of home, sweet home. The hosts became our friends. They are so great - Marti, Peter and Gabor. These are the people who really love what they do. The cooking class was excellent. We were the group of English learning students from Russia and the fact is that we got everything from the meeting - English practice, because the hosts have perfect English skills, wonderful cooking practice (we cooked real national Hungarian dishes) and also eating practice, because at the end of the evening we had to eat everything we had cooked)))Moreover we got to know a lot about Hungarian culture, people, history and modern affairs. It was more than perfect, we have now only sweet and warm memories about that evening and we are sure to visit these great people one more time when we come back to Budapest.

Awesome cooking class!

Awesome cooking class!

This was one of our best experiences in Budapest! There are several menus to choose from. We chose option "C" which included Goulash soup, Savoury pancake Hortobágy, Gerbeaud layer cake. During the class I mentioned that I would have liked to try the cold fruit soup and found we could have "mixed and matched". Everything was delicious and seemed so easy to make as Marta guided us step by step through the recipes.

The fee includes not only the class itself, but pick up and drop off from your hotel, a welcome drink of homemade palinka (much better than the commercial ones we tried), appetizers and homemade sodas during the cooking, as well as wine to accompany lunch at the end.

What made this class special over what you would get in a commercial cooking class was the discussions we had with our hosts regarding life in Hungary and tips on Budapest while we cooking and during lunch. Something you would never experience is a large group setting. My only regret was not having done this class at the beginning of our trip vs. our last day as we could not take advantage of their sightseeing suggestions.
